The Brazos Valley Affordable Housing Corporation provides eligible persons up to $7,500 in funds for down payment and closing cost assistance for eligible home purchases. Brazos Valley Community Development Corporation
BVCDC was created to provide a mortgage-lending program for low-income families who might not otherwise qualify for conventional loans. Six local banks (Madisonville State Bank, Citibank, First Bank of Snook, First National Bank of B/CS, First Victoria, and Wells Fargo Bank) made it possible. Contact: Paul Turney, 979-595-2809

Energy/Housing Services, Brazos Valley Community Action Agency Energy/Housing Services of BVCAA offer income qualified, employed households assistance with rent or utilities, appliances, minor home improvements to increase energy efficiency and lower costs. Contact: Bryan Jones, 979-846-3723
Bryan/College Station Habitat for Humanity B/CS Habitat for Humanity builds simple, decent and affordable homes in partnership with people who live in substandard housing, and who are unable to secure adequate housing by conventional means. This self-help program requires each perspective homeowner to donate 400 hours of “Sweat Equity,” building other Habitat homes as well as their own, and participation in a series of classes to learn fiscal responsibility, home repair and maintenance and responsible home ownership. Once the home is built, homeowners buy the home at cost through a zero interest 20-30 year mortgage.

City of Bryan Community Development
The City of Bryan Community Development may provide eligible persons up to $7,500 in funds for down payment and closing cost assistance for eligible home purchases. All assistance is limited based on funding availability. Contact: Mary Lou Lavador, 979-209-5175
City of College Station Community Development The City of College Station Community Development offers down payment assistance in the form of a deferred non-interest bearing loan up to $10,000 (Up to 14,999 for households of 5 or more), or a maximum of 10% of the purchase price of the home to eligible first-time prospective home buyers considering purchasing a home within the city limits of College Station. Assistance up to 20% of the sales price or a $14,999 maximum is available on any home for sale developed by the City of College Station Economic and Community Development Department or a certified non-profit partner with same repayment terms as above. Buyers must intend to occupy the home as their principal residence and having incomes below the maximum income limits set.Contact: David Brower, 979-764-3810
U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development USDA Rural Development has been helping rural Americans become homeowners since 1949. The direct Homeownership Loan Program offers home loans to lower income individuals and families who are unable to obtain credit elsewhere, with interest rates as low as one percent and no down payment.
